Vicar of Christ on Earth
The Heresy of Pride

From the title, we take no particular notice of the true meaning of the word, "Vicar", because it sounds official, ecclesiastical, and highfalutin, and highfalutin it is, indeed!  The definition of the term, vicar, is given by the First Edition Encyclopaedia Britannica (published 1771), as follows:

"a person appointed, as deputy to another, to perform his functions in his absence, and under his authority."

In Holy Scripture, mention is made of the fact that Christ Jesus is the Only Sinless One, Who is the Alpha and the Omega, the Son and Word of God Incarnate.  So, therefore, how pretentious can it be for a sinful man to take on the title of "Vicar of Christ on Earth" as if to imply that Jesus Christ, Our Precious Lord, is somehow absent from among us.  If that is true, then the Body of Christ is rudderless, without a Head.  But such fanciful thinking is preposterous in the extreme, and no rational, thinking person, would entertain such a notion for very long.

So, what do we make of the title?  The title is a prideful expression of a Bishop gone bad, in a sea of prideful fancy.  The Bishop of Rome cannot perform Jesus Christ's functions, because the Bishop is not God, is not the Son and Word of God.  The Bishop cannot begin to comprehend the Wisdom of God, for he is a limited creature of God, who disobeyed God's Holy Will by committing sins throughout his life, just like we do.  The Bishop is no different from any other man or woman in terms of his guilt of sin.  How can the Congregations of God be successful in becoming Holy, without the direct Word of God being active in His Body, and without the operation of the Holy Spirit, through the Agape (Service Love) of God the Father?  Is the Body of Christ dead?  Heaven forbid!  So, we know therefore that Jesus Christ is NOT ABSENT from His Own Body!!!  Therefore, the attempt by the Bishop of Rome to be the Deputy of Jesus Christ is a highfalutin display of pride, and the Bishop of Rome, by attempting to act in that role is an also-ran because he cannot assume the Authority of Christ Jesus.  Therefore, the Roman Pontiff, Bishop of Rome, is engaging in a heresy of pride.  Lord, have mercy and stop this heresy now.  Amen.

May the Grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ, the Love of God the Father, and the Communion of the Good and Life-Creating Holy Spirit of God be with you all.  Amen.

We all know that a society with out a leader is chaos. Christ knew this, thus he left Peter as his spokes person. Christ is no longer "visible" as a human here on earth and like it or not... he left Peter in charge of the church.. The pope is the Vicar of Christ becaus Christ is no longer visible as a Human.. and Take it up with Jesus for makeing Peter the first Vicar of Christ.. cheech... it has nothing to do with pride.. Jesus is cool.. He gave Peter the keys to the kingdom of heaven.... to loosen and bound what ever he wanted...

Are we to think that it would die off with Pete.. I think not.. ..

As Christ perdicted Hell shall not prevail against the church.. hard as it tries it will not succeed.. YOU GO.. Jesus.. and thank you for leaving us your Holy Church.. Amen..

Church Staff Reply:  Thank you for your comment.  True, a society without a leader is chaos, yet it is also true that a society with a leader who is not perfect is afflicted with chaos as well.  There is no man or woman living today or since Christ, or before Christ who is without sin.  The Father sent the Holy Spirit into the world on the Day of Pentecost, 50 days after Christ is Risen.  The Holy Spirit is the Comforter, the Spirit of Truth, Who is Everywhere Present, Who is the Source of all the Graces that are bestowed on us through the Holy Sacraments.  The Holy Spirit of God keeps the Church in Holiness, and keeps it One.  Christ did not bestow upon the Great Apostle Peter the title "Vicar of Christ on Earth".  The Church has Jesus Christ as its Head.

The Holy Fathers in the famous passage, "Thou art Peter, and on this Rock I will build my Church," never understood that the Church was built on Peter (super Petrum), but on the Rock (super petram), that is, on the confession of the faith of the apostle.

The Church is conciliar, kept together by the operation of the Holy Spirit, under the direction of Jesus Christ, Pantocratora (Almighty), and through the Love of the Father.  Trinity, One in Essence and undivided.

Thus, the Church cannot be Holy if it is left to a sinful man to run its affairs and to create or modify dogma.  As heretical as this past statement may seem to a Roman Christian, it is not at all heretical.  In point of fact the statement is rather logical, if approached with a reasoned inquiry.

Tyrrany comes from persons imbued with pride and hatred.  (Tyrrany is the opposite of what Christ stands for.)  Christ preaches Agape (love) to God and neighbor.  This begins with us as we approach Holy Lent.  God Bless you.]
